Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the notion of “contagion” as one of the paths of transmitting international economic crises. It presents the results of the analysis of the synchronization of the changes in economic activity in the world and in another economies during the crisis periods. We observe high similarity in the course of the fluctuations of the economic activity in the studied countries with the economic fluctuations in the global economic situation. In the context of the presented definitions of transmission of economy through contagion, the following are the reasons for the occurrence of this phenomenon: During the crisis, the correlation between the infected economies and the economy which is regarded as infecting is stronger than in the period of economic growth. The range and the magnitude of the fluctuations during crises are bigger than it is suggested by the classic effect of transmission of the fluctuations.
