Information Technologies as Employees’ Job Satisfaction Factor

Summary/Abstract: Employees’ job satisfaction in the aspect of information technologies is analyzed. Analysis of various authors’ interpretation of IT influence results on empoyees’ working activity is performed, job satisfaction conception is analyzed, IT influence on employees’ job satisfaction research results is shown. The goal of the article is to analyze the influence of information technologies’ on employees’ job satisfaction. After making an analysis of literature on information technologies relation to the human factor and after making empirical investigations (Nie, Hillygus, 2002; Pronovost, 2002; Castells, 1996; Kraut, 1998; Neustadl, Robinson, 2002; Katz, Aspend, 1997), it was determined that all the investigations are concentrated on the following aspects of social life: leisure time, lonelyeness, day agenda (working day and weekend), communication, unemployment level. In these investigations there is missing a viewpoint of IT usage in the working activity and employees’ job satisfaction. Empirical research shows that the influence on IT on employees’ job satisfaction comprises the following job satisfaction factors: salary, possibility to realise one’s own ideas, the possibility to study, recognition. There were determined statistically important dependences between the use level of information technologies and satisfaction with job component elements. This allows to conclude that the higher level of information technologies contributes to the bigger satisfaction of employees’ with their job.
