Administrative costs in hospital

Summary/Abstract: The increase in costs of health care is observed around the world. This growth is connected not only with the increasing costs of health care procedures, but also with the administrative costs related to medical staff, as well as non-medical entities. The amount of information provided to the payer has also increased, which influences the growth of administrative costs. The administrative costs of health care are not frequently analyzed and there is no international comparison of European countries in this filed. The purpose of this paper is to present the administrative costs for a large hospital in the years 2013/2014 and to attempt to measure the effectiveness of administrative activities. In the hospital considered administrative costs account for 10% of total costs, and show a decreasing trend.
