Summary/Abstract: The social network has become a platform, not only for socializing between individuals, but also and extremely important one for promoting the image of persons. In this context, our paper aimed to analyse the way in which the Checkin places application offered by Facebook is used in the Member States of the European Union. We also wanted to identify the main places where the individuals are using this application and pointing the geographical and cultural differences of the members of Facebook from the EU. To achieve the aims of the work, we used only quantitative research methods. To facilitate the research techniques, we made a group of EU countries according their geographical region, namely Western Europe: Belgium, France, Germany, Holland, Luxembourg; Northern Europe: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, UK, Ireland, Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia; Central Europe: Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia; Southern Europe: Italy, Spain, Portugal and Malta; Eastern Europe: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece and Romania.
