Summary/Abstract: Culture is a social value that is transmitted from people to people, it represents the ideas, beliefs and practices of people that is handed on from generation to generation. Hence, gender inequality is transmitted from people to people. The study thus examines the impact of culture on gender inequality and the effect on women economic empowerment and development in Ekiti State, Nigeria. The data was collected using quantitative and qualitative methods. 3 local Government Areas in Ekiti State were sampled, focusing on the headquarters of each Local Government Area. A total of 400 respondents were interviewed comprising adult male and female, youth male and female. The data was analyzed using statistical package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and variables were cross tabulated in other to provide association and relationship. The qualitative method was analyzed using descriptive analysis to strengthen the quantitative analysis. The finding revealed that culture is having influence on gender inequality in Ekiti State and is invariably affecting the economic empowerment of women which in turn has effect on development in Ekiti State
