Evolution of the concept of power - from hard power to smart power

Summary/Abstract: Power, remains essential in a world that tries to ensure it’s independency, in a world in which non-state actors want to return to violence. In interstate relation, power is represented by hard power, the ability of using coercive techniques in order to determine a specific manner of action. Later analyst, Joseph Nye, introduced the soft power and the smart power terms. Smart power confirms the reality, by increasing the propensity of using simultaneously, nuanced and different forms of power. This study aims to be a brief presentation of the main concept regarding to power: hard power, soft power, smart power.
