Summary/Abstract: For the Swiss writer Jacques Chessex the gender issue is considered from a perspective that is far from opposing the man and woman as to decide the male primacy over the feminine element, admits the existence of a certain inferiority of man against the inexplicable charms of a woman and her inability to perceive the mystery of femininity. Construction and representation of masculinity and femininity as identities are realized through introspection at the spiritual and erotic universe levels that include both categories. The conclusion is that the feminine element remains forever higher and misunderstood by the masculine one. If the phenomenon of globalization brings a breath rather egalitarian in the male-female relationships, the gender regime set up by Jacques Chessex goes to an exaltation of the powers of sensuous woman who is both the source of redemption and the motive for the fall of man.
