Summary/Abstract: High-tech enterprises belong to a specific sector in the modern world’s economy. These companies operate on the borderline between the economy and science. They conduct active research and development activities and are also a source of knowledge creation and a contribution to the creation of innovation. The specificity of high-tech enterprises requires a commitment to the work process of two basic categories of employees that should be highly skilled. Persons involved in both managerial, as well as executive positions in high-tech enterprises, should possess the relevant competence. Looking through the prism of the activities of high-tech enterprises, the graduates of technical schools are of relevant significance. Ensuring an adequate supply of qualified specialists in the sciences for some time has been intensively handled by state authorities, not just in Poland, by initiating and implementing various programmes, for example, Programme for the Support of Competence.
