Summary/Abstract: This article presents the positive and negative effects of the complex phenomenon of globalization, which manifests itself on five dimensions of life: the political-military dimension, the economic and financial dimension, the social dimension (ethnic, religious, etc.), the environment dimension and the technology dimension. The global security environment is affected by vulnerabilities and threats that lately have a dynamic and breathtaking transformation, some with long-term effects, such as global warming. To the imminent and involuntary threats, intentional threats must be added; in this respect, terrorist attacks, the use of cyber warfare, the use of new forms of asymmetric warfare - hybrid war, human rights violations, etc are exemplary. The phenomenon of globalization is irreversible and finding solutions to annihilate threats to global security can be done only through the involvement and joint action by all countries.
