Determinants of remuneration of the cooperative banks’ board members in Lesser Poland Voivodeship in the post-crisis period

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the analysis of the impact of macro- and microeconomic determinants of remuneration of the members of boards in cooperative banks that were headquartered in Lesser Poland Voivodeship between 2008-2013. The existing literature on factors influencing the level of fees of board members in both financial and non-financial companies was reviewed. Based on data retrieved from National Court Register the panel study was conducted. The fixed effect model was used. A significant positive impact of the size of a bank, bank capitalisation and to a lesser degree the number of cooperative members on the remunerations was identified. On the other hand, the bank’s financial results and macroeconomic factors have no impact on board’s fees.
