Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the so-called contact linguistics, namely, a synthetic discipline which aims at analyses of issues that used to be the separate discourses of sociolinguistic, psycholinguistic or glottodidactics. The article discusses the very foundation of this discipline and its position within academic linguistics (especially the Slavonic one). Additionally, a thorough reflection on terms, contexts and purposes connected with critical analysis of teaching content is offered.
