Summary/Abstract: Review of a book analysing factors due to which the computer has become a massive tool for writing and reading. The book attempts to describe the new communication reality with its development trends (expressed in terms of the following concepts: technology, multiplication, diversification and democratization) in individual and social functioning of the written word. Their occurrence can be seen in relation to the digital revolution, but also to earlier media revolutions, shaping different facets of literacy.
