Summary/Abstract: The long way the European construction has come from 1951 until today has been marked by the promotion of the ideas of liberty, democracy, justice and solidarity, values with deep roots in the European civilization. Linguistically speaking this process has been marked by the creation of an impressive infrastructure and mobilization of a large number of specialists that have contributed to the creation and translation of the documents that the European construction is based on. The translation of community (EU) texts and documents is a work based on competences, research stages (necessary for discovering the specificity of the transfer to the target language), preparation, experience, sense of language or as Mochny put it, “a good translator of such acts must not only master legal jargon, he or she will also be required to know the history of that country because translating community legal texts is translating culture”.
