Summary/Abstract: The constantly advancing globalization processes, amending the market situation and emerging new challenges, force economies and entities which function in them to be all the time flexible and innovative. Moreover, nowadays innovation is considered to be one of the most important determinants of health and economic competitiveness. The purpose of this article is to present the essence of innovation in building a competitive advantage, as well as to present the innovative capacity and condition of the Luxembourg economy, which is seen as one of the most innovative, developed and competitive in the world.
