MACIEJ ŻUROWSKI’S STUDIES OF POETRY

Summary/Abstract: Maciej Żurowski seems one of the most outstanding expert on the culture of Roman countries in 20 century. He compared French and Polish poetry applying inter-disciplinarth y comparative studies. He provided a precise methodological and historical-literary analysis of poetry — painting and poetry music (Chopin) connections as well as of symbolism (Rimbaud, Lautréamont, Verlaine, Mallarmé) and 20-century poetic avant-garde (Apollinaire, Cendrars, Reverdy). Thus he has made a valid contribution to Polish studies of Roman culture and proved to be an excellent philologist-comparatist.
