Touristic function of mountain municipalities vs. standard of living of their residents in the Małopolska Voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is an investigation of relations between touristic function of mountain municipalities in Małopolska and standards of living of their inhabitants in two years: 2003 and 2013. The secondary source of data was used − Bank of Local Data and Main Statistical Office. Tourist function of mountain municipalities was estimated with Defert index. Standards of living of inhabitants of municipalities were calculated with a method of multidimentional comparative analysis: the model development method. The relations between both categories were analyzed with Pearson correlation index. Results proved that touristic function in mountain municipalities in Małopolska were differentiated and an average for mountain municipalities was lower than the average for the voivodship. Standards of living of inhabitants of mountain municipalities were also lower than average in the Małopolskie Voivodship, both in 2003 and 2013. The relation between tourist function of a municipality and standards of living of its inhabitants was statistically significant, but weak.
