Conservation of Library Collections Within the Polish Armed Forces Based on the Józef Piłsudski Central Military Library in Warsaw

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this work is the presentation of rules of conservation of library collections based on solutions implemented in the Józef Piłsudski Central Military Library in Warsaw. The article describes the legal basis regulating the protection of national goods endangered during warfare and as a result of natural disasters. It also presents the specificity of collections in libraries of the Polish Armed Forces. It deals at length with the functioning of the Central Military Library and the achievements of its workers, as well as initiatives aimed at the protection of cultural goods they are in charge of. The author aims to point the reader’s attention to the specificity of military-related goods in the country, as well as delineate the absolute necessity of protection of resources of Polish libraries of various types by creating suitable conditions of securing the most valuable positions in the case of war and natural disasters.
