Summary/Abstract: The paper is focused on a description and analysis of exorcism in the Coptic Orthodox Church. It deals with sacramental as well as non-sacramental rites. The paper introduces the arguments of Pope Shenouda III (1923–2012) to the reader. The paper results in a statement that the practice of exorcism is part of the living tradition of the Coptic Orthodox church, is based on biblical arguments and is performed with the goal of eschatological redemption.
