Summary/Abstract: The principal idea of this study of semantic preferences in the journalistic discourse is to observe and discuss how journalists tend to orient their target readers either to facts or to quotes playing sovereigns of the effects they give to the voices they reproduce. At the same time, news reports maintain their claim to objectivity and impartiality while shaping, at certain levels, a distinctive rhetorical potential, using the communicational qualities of the “voice” with which the discourse is associated and by encoding the acceptance of a social attitude and its obvious inclusion into the discourse, thus positioning the readers.
