Summary/Abstract: In this article we take the time to reflect on the course of education. All over the world teachers and administrators are working hard to get their students to pass tests to prove they have reached state or national standards. We believe that in this race to meet standards we have lost our way and we are leaving the human aspects of our students by the road side. Caine & Caine (2011) and Sousa (2011) reminded us of the importance of emotions and the arts in the development of the young brains. The climate of the classroom and school should consider the other parts of the brain in addition to academic knowledge. We think it is time for educators to begin to take back education from politicians in order to fully realize the humanness of our students.
