Summary/Abstract: This article presents the lecture that father Teodoros Zisis gave on the occasion of the canonization of St. Simeon, Archbishop of Thessaloniki. The author intents to give an overview of the life and work of St. Simeon, using existing data up to that point and revealing some new elements resulting from his own research. He highlights the relevance and importance of St. Simeon in the life and history of the Orthodox Church, of the Byzantine Empire and the city of Thessaloniki, also responding to some of the criticisms on the saint appeared over time.
