Summary/Abstract: Herophilus, Erasistratus and Galenus are regarded as the proto-parents of cerebral ventricles in recognition of the fact that they systematized the first anatomical and physiological concepts concerning the cerebral ventricular system. We will present the context in which the first ever descriptions of cerebral ventricles were made, with understandable errors, yet with astonishing anatomical details which have greatly contributed to further discoveries. pp. 137–142
