Summary/Abstract: The following article presents the political usage of the Slavic idea, reestablished during World War II by the Soviet party and governance. It’s been largely exploited by the Soviet propaganda activities and it is a big part of the foreign policy of USSR. In addition, the article follows the development of its adoption by the Bulgarian communists – at first as political emigrants and after that as leading figures in the Bulgarian government. Among other things, the reborn Slavic idea turns out to be a useful tool for them to achieve certain political benefits, both outside and inside the country. This is the exact purpose for calling the Slavic congress in Sofia at the beginning of March 1945. It could be said that it eventually justifies the hopes placed upon it, as the defeated and internationally isolated Bulgaria manages in a very short time to win the trust and the favor of the Kremlin government.
