The aim of the analysis is to identify the factors determining the current stage of development of the Polish economy based on its quantitative characteristics. The methodology includes a comparative analysis for individual factors and identifi cation of those factors that positively and negatively affect the current level of innovation of Poland. The analysis takes into account the methodology of the indicated innovation rankings. Almost half of the factors found responsible for an unsatisfactory level of innovativeness of Poland cover broadly understood institutional barriers. The second important group of factors is related to general scientifi c progress of the Polish economy. The analysis confi rms the importance of widely known determi-nants of Poland’s economic development.
