Summary/Abstract: The article presents the problems relating to the automation of the Cyrillo-Methodian bibliography and explores the perspectives for solving them. At the contemporary stage of development of the automated bibliographic database the following problems are outlined as being important: 1. entering and processing of descriptions with characters not contained in the standard Cyrillic and standard Latin sets; 2. management and control of the database; 3. elaboration of various applications to the records, thanks to which the functions of the database will expand and it will go beyond its purely bibliographic purposes; 4. systematization of the records; 5. presentation of the database on the Internet. The question of the necessity of applying a new information retrieval system and of the conversion of bibliographic records of the Cyrillo-Methodian bibliography from the format of CDS/ISIS to MARC 21 format is also addressed. The presented proposals outline the direction in which the automated Cyrillo-Methodian bibliography must be developed in order to respond to the contemporary requirements for bibliographic information systems and to contribute to improving the information access in the field of Cyrillo-Methodian studies.
