Summary/Abstract: The present article tries to look into the problems of identity and its development on personal and social level by using two objects: the direct one - the family which has been interviewed and the indirect one - the Turkish groups of builders in Sofia presented by the family. The family mentioned above is from Sofia. The husband is a building supervisor of Turkish builders at building sites, and the wife is an accountant in a building company, which inherited 'Sofstroi'. Despite the fact that the spouses have been living in Sofia for quite a long time, they both share certain stereotypes created to a great extent by their place of origin (Montana and Elena), which also, to a certain extent, makes them feel different (traditional). How are these stereotypes manifested, used and overcome? These are some of the questions the article tries to answer.
