Summary/Abstract: The experiment was analyzed narrative prose of Stevan Sremac dedicated to the topic of theater and the fate of itinerant actors on the Serbian end of the 19th and early 20th century. When it is especially focused attention on the characterization of a traveling actor Svetislav N. in Ivkova slava (1895), and then analyzed in detail the central narrative of the thematic cycle of the Putujuće društvo (1901), in which the guest shown Dimić theater guide in Leskovac, Vlasotince and other towns of the "new Serbia" during the 1889. Process analytical interpretation of the narrative process, points to the characteristics of comic exposure, the dynamic plot, skillfully carried out comical culmination and denouement. Thanks to the effective way is shown in harsh, sometimes banal and tragic, but sublime destiny of the theater troupe in Serbia at the end of the 19th century, and then realized characterization of an actor's mentality as a combination of unusual extremes, primarily sublime and low, rational and infantile, ironic and grotesque. At the end of the experiment, points to the short stories Kalča u pozorištu (1904) and magnificent walks Madam Pompadur (1906), in which the comic plot is based on the direct crossing theatrical art and life.
