Summary/Abstract: Looking at selected texts by Dubravka Ugrešić as translated by Dorota Jovanka Ćirlić, the most prolific contemporary Polish translator of Balkan literature, we consider the issue of presence (or absence) of an interpreter in the text. We will take a closer look at the solutions of translation, but also their importance in the context of building the position of the author, who, like the translator, acts as an ambassador.
