Summary/Abstract: This essay is a quest for the ontological meaning of a Bulgarian word which reveals an authentic intuition of Being. The word „dushica“ (душица), well known from the Bulgarian folklore and literature (N. Haytov and Y. Yovkov), could not be properly translated into English. In my view, ‘dushica’ means something vital for us as it penetrates the everyday world in such a way that a single thing from this world reveals something authentic for us in its origin, fate and vitality. In Heidegger’s terms, I conted that the mode of Being of the „thing“ thus grasped by the Bulgarian language is neither present-at-hand (Vorhanden) nor ready-to-hand (Zuhanden). The mode of Being of this phenomenon is also not identical to the mode of Being of the pure work of art. It is something ontologically different.
