Summary/Abstract: Abstract: This article analyses the presence of urban spaces in recent award-winning new wave Romanian films, within the context of European art cinema. The paper also researches the way in which the medium affects characters and contributes to narrative. It also seeks to gather key elements of the city that define a Romanian national spirit. The films chosen as examples are a few of the most internationally well-known new wave productions.
