Summary/Abstract: The bloody days of the Warsaw Poles’ uprising in August 1944 are described with dramatism by a former German soldier, then only 18 years old and freshly recruited in Hitler’s army, who was sent with his brigade to suppress the uprising. Ironically, he was later saved from being captured by the Soviet troops by a Polish family.
