Summary/Abstract: The teaching of the Polish language in the Czech Republic has a very long tradition. Those interested have had the opportunity to pursue Polish studies at Czech universities for nearly a hundred years (at Charles University in Prague, at Masaryk University in Brno, in Hradec Králové, at Palacký University in Olomouc, in Ostrava, Pardubice and Ústí nad Labem). The Polish language can be studied as part of the so called Polish studies, Middle European studies or translation studies at different levels, including undergraduate BA and MA studies, and postgraduate Ph.D. studies. Based on the analysis of texts written by students, the author points to the most common errors in language learning, including errors of form, usage, lexical and stylistic. Raising students’ awareness of the differences between the Polish and Czech languages combined with diverse grammatical, lexical and stylistic exercises can help Czech students eliminate errors and produce linguistically correct utterances in the Polish language.
