Summary/Abstract: Research undertaken in the present work aims to identify and present in a more unified and synthetic manner the theoretical and conceptual foundations of rural development policies, and to present the development of Romanian rural area in the period 2007-2013 as a result of its accession to the European Union and implementation of the National Rural Development Programme and to analyse the effects and influences that were generated by the implementation of this rural development program in Romania.
