Culture as an integration agent. Reflections on the present directions in the integration of the Romanian immigrants from Italy

Summary/Abstract: Integration, seen as a dimension of the migration phenomenon has a plurality of significations. Even if it is about socio-cultural integration or political-constitutional one, the emphasis is on ensuring the dignity and the identity, respecting integrity, the human rights and the fundamental freedoms of an individual, aspects which represent the necessary premises for developing an adequate life from a personal, social, economic and cultural point of view, in order to be able to interact in a constructive way with the others. The present paper aims to emphasize the role of the cultural factor as a mean of knowing and reciprocal respect, which has a decisive importance in the promotion of a better cohabitation between the members of contemporary societies, which, more than ever, are marked by continuous changes.
