Summary/Abstract: Our work is intended to be an introduction into an area that was not adequately explored in Romania`s schools, that of museum didactics. We choose this topic because we believe it is not only interesting but also imperative to focus on the study of the cooperation that can be established between schools and museums in the current socio-cultural context that is characterized by a cursory pursuit of new, of a modernism that is void of the moral and civic landmarks that were supposed to ensure at least satisfactory operation of the formative - educational process. Museum pedagogy offers an attractive alternative to the old methods of teaching that were non-personal and defined by weak participatory character; it is meant to optimize the students`receptivity by the prevalence of the school forming methods over the informing ones. If the museum is only the host of the class, and the lesson development is governed by the pre-established rules that make it keep its specificity, we are dealing with formal education. When the teacher comes with certain questions or he underlines the conclusions drawn from the specialized guide developed by the curator, we are in the field of non-formal education. Students will learn by following museum routes and visiting the exhibitions. In this case, canonical principles of the school didactics cannot be strictly enforced. If the first mode of training is held in the museum, in the latter case we are dealing with training through the museum. We add a third type of training that benefits from all resources of museology, namely one based on the design of museum / museum – like exhibitions. The results will be even more spectacular as the teacher will directly involve students in developing and organizing exhibitions: gather information, photographs, drawings, molds, frames, labeling various objects. These activities will stimulate creativity, will motivate and increase their self confidence. Exhibition opening (where they can have parents, friends, and students from other classes as visitors) will constitute the reward of their work and motivation impulse for other such projects.
