Vintilă Horia and the Temptation of the Fantastic

Summary/Abstract: The present paper is a detailed study on the early short-stories of Vintila Horia which were included in the volume Moartea morţii mele (edition which was prefaced by Mircea Popa, Editura Dacia, Cluj-Napoca, 1999). We hereby want to demonstrate that Vintila Horia proved to be an extremely ingenious and interesting writer and his fantastic prose – unfortunately very little known- deserve fast rehabilitation. By resorting to terrifying fantastic and by developing highly ingenious theories, these writings bring a new age in the Romanian prose of the twentieth century.
