Summary/Abstract: In his Obituary about Gadamer, Béla Bacsó shows the important presence of Gadamer's philosophy in late modernity. Namely, Gadamer makes it obvious that we have no other chances only the re- interpretation of our traditions in art and history too. After his re-reading some excellent theoretical approaches (Kant, Yorck von Wartenburg, Dilthey, Heidegger etc.), we get an excellent view of metaphysical thinking (Plato, Aristoteles) and of rethinking the old essential questions. Gadamer demonstrates a critique of metahysics, it does not mean a mere continuity of it, but a radical questioning of it. He was able to approach, against his teacher, Heidegger, the best view of platonic philosophy and with it dialogical hermeneutics. After his death, our task is to recontextualize his early work (Plato's Dialectical Ethics) and his magnum opus Truth and Method, because hermeneutics is able to offer and to open us to the question of Being or to the question of the meaning of Being.
