An Answer to György Fogarasi

Summary/Abstract: The internationally renown Hungarian philosopher, Béla Bacsó published his study On Irony in April 2001 on the pages of Jelenkor. A year later a young literary critic argues with Bacsó’s remarks on Paul De Man’s On the Notion of Irony here. This is succeeded by Bacsó’s reply, and, in the following number, Fogarasi’s answer. The main reference points emerging in the course of the debate are (among others) the works of Walter Benjamin, Peter Szondi and Friedrich Schlegel.
