Summary/Abstract: The article evokes a meeting with ophthalmologist Petre Vancea, a renowned scientist and a fine scholar. He was the author of a memoir entitled Light again, well received by literary criticism. A professor for decades, Peter Vancea was a man accustomed to young people. The doctor who had carried out more than ten thousand operations and invented a vaccine was probably happier with the book he had just published than with his entire career. It is also described a meeting of this doc-tor with the president Salazar of Portugal.
