Identification of Lying in the Case of Germany Industrial Sector: Improvement of the Method

Summary/Abstract: The paper tests the hypothesis on the possible purposeful misrepresentation of economic information (or lying) emitted by business organizations about the current and future performance and this can be detected even on macroeconomic level. The macroeconomic lying identification method is proposed in order to check this hypothesis. The method is applied for Germany data. This research paper is based on the previous investigation on macroeconomic lying hypothesis, but in addition the external factors, i.e. the changes in retail trade of export partners, are evaluated.
