Summary/Abstract: The first part of this article is devoted to analysis of propaedeutics i.e. the preparatory work leading toward a refined phenomenology of aesthetic concept of Moritz Geiger. There is a description of psychology and art theories to be criticized as well as the concepts of art understanding are presented, thus, aesthetic phenomenology research field is defined, which does not combine neither subjective conception of art nor the manifestations of dilettantism in art or empathy theory, which appears to be insufficient to explain a phenomenon of aesthetic survival. The second part presents the essential aspects of a phenomenological aesthetics (direct experience of the phenomenon of art, everyday phenomenon in art, etc.) and the representative of this trend – Geiger’s philosophy is analysed wider. This section of paper presents Geiger’s concept of objectivity in art according to which the art reflects what objective, i.e. it does not mention the artist’s subjective experience or a spectator’s feelings, but always shows viable, vital world around us. It also provides the theory of multi-layered art – surface and depth, talking about viable and sensitive aesthetic experience, and the opportunity to see the essence of the world - vitality, changes, play in a piece of art.
