Summary/Abstract: The scientific aim of this paper is to address the essence and the importance of paradigms in management science with special emphasis on knowledge management paradigms in continuously changing business environment. We present the essence and the need for shifts in understanding and the way the shift impacts the behavior of organizations in the knowledge society. In the article, we reviewed the definitions and understandings of paradigms in available literature and pointed to the need and rationale for the shift in the paradigms in management sciences. The paper shows the need for and the potential for formulating new paradigms of knowledge management in the new economy. Upon reviewing old and new paradigms, we pointed to the features of the new paradigm in management science and knowledge management. The scientific method adopted in the article is a critical analysis of literature and inference. The analyzes revealed the need to formulate new paradigms in the management under conditions of growing needs of diffusion of information and knowledge and the need for knowledge transfer.
