The role of business consulting in managing micro enterprises – selected effects and determinants

Summary/Abstract: The presented paper considers the role of business consulting in managing micro enterprises. It explores the significance of business consulting as a factor in reducing the gap in knowledge concerning business management. The second part of the paper presents the results of empirical research conducted in Polish micro enterprises regarding the use of business consulting services in the area of knowledge creation and formulation of development strategies. The effectiveness of business consulting requires advanced knowledge on the part of managers as a prerequisite of its use as well as a high level of pro-development orientation of micro enterprises It also shows the importance of absorption capability for the effectiveness of business consulting and assesses the value of consulting knowledge offered, its assimilation, transformation and exploitation in the process of creating a development strategy and innovations.
