Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the issue of the relationship between business innovation andcompetitiveness in small innovative companies in Poland. It presents determinantsand selected characteristics of their business activity (its scale as well as the surveyedentrepreneurs’ experience and management knowledge). The study of 400 small Polishcompanies does not support the hypothesis of the existence of a significant relationshipbetween innovation of small companies and their competitive position (among the surveyedcompanies, such a relationship was recorded in only 53% of the sample).
