Position and Role of Scientific and Research Activities on University in order to Strengthen and Further Develop Bologna Process

Summary/Abstract: Higher education does not seem to cease being one of the most important social priorities in every social and national community, so Bosnia and Herzegovina is not an exception. However, its inseparable part, which enables its developing and advancing on the social scale of reputation and quality are the research and development. These factors are taking place at the university, i.e. within its organizational units – faculties, institutes and departments. The university’s educational and research dimension and its social role within these processes have been set by the Bologna Declaration in the sphere of higher education and by the Lisbon Research agenda into the research and development. Within this paper to be presented, the focus is set, above all, to the place, role and way of organizing scientific and research processes at the university and its member institutions, as defined by the aforementioned Lisbon process. An attempt shall be taken, from the available data, one try to give a brief overview of the state in this area at the University of Sarajevo and its member institutions, and to propose activities and directions for taking actions in order to have present unenviable state indicators began to shift towards positive direction.
