Summary/Abstract: The present study is part of a larger study that has been conducted within an international research program of Columbia University, New York, coordinated by Mrs. Hawley Johnson, Program Director. The research, from where this fragment has been extracted, aims to investigate the profile of the media, focusing on the media NGO’s sector, from five South-Eastern European countries: Romania, Macedonia, Kosovo, Bosnia Y Herzegovina and Serbia Y Montenegro. The research is looking for answers at questions like ‘are these organizations that have been founded and initially financially supported by international or national donors and institutions, self-sustainable?’ or ‘which are the biggest challenges indicated by the Media NGO sector from South-Eastern Europe?’ The text presented bellow, represents a fragment extracted from the ‘Romania chapter’ of the study, edited (English language revised).
