Summary/Abstract: This paper presents an overview of the most famous definition of metacognition, under which it generally involves cognition about cognition, but this definition provides only the basic identification of metacognition. As an illustration, a tabular framework of metacognition was shown which emphasizes its multidimensionality and includes a whole range of relevant components. The intention of the author was to draw attention to the importance of studying the phenomenon of metacognition, but also to the conceptual and methodological obstacles that stand in the way of improving knowledge in this area. It needs time and there are tasks for metacognitive paradigm to be conceived, realized, and finally to confirm its great explanatory potential.
