About Birth Rites in Gallap

Summary/Abstract: The region of Gallap represents an ethno-cultural environment with a treasure of inher-ited values, as of the material culture as well as of the spiritual one. Among many hab-its and customs that are valued by the residents of this area, a special attention has been paid to the rites of birth. Therefore, Highlands of Gallap present an interest of study of some phenomena that are almost disappearing, but which are still stored in the memory of people. This paper, tries to see how the cultural values substantially result to us, how they pro-cess by taking surviving features, more and more, within the ancestral background. We will treat the birth rites in the region of Gallap, which we will pit with the social changes as well as the time factor, to see how much active are today and how much are affected by these changes. The aim of this paper is to shed light on these rites, making them cultural anthropology treatment facilities.
