Cultural Stratifactions in the Art of Wood Carving in Kosova

Summary/Abstract: The art of wood carving in cultural tradition in Kosova presents an opportunity for ac-cess to genuine values of Albanian cultural heritage, in general. Based on this prem-ise, the treated theme provides argumentative data for these cultural values, as a possi-bility of their application in analysis and synthesis of specific and general topics in the field of Albanology. Among others, through the art of wood carving, this paper sheds light on the origins of art in Albanian culture, on the historical circumstances reflect and cultural level when emanated the application of processes of development of this popu-lar creativity. There are treated also the art reflections as a cultural value in other segments of popu-lar creativity, and particularly in traditional art itself applied in textile, metal, pottery and stone carving. There are studied and identified these reflections, and after a proper analysis, they synthesize the assertion for an authentic culture that emanates from the masses. Of a particular importance, we consider the decoding of realized motifs, either by geometric, floral, zoomorphic and anthropomorphic applying. Above all, the ex-pressed symbolism enables the recognition of procedural development of spiritual cul-ture, by examining it in liaison with the beliefs and superstitions toward the natural en-vironment, to reflect to the natural religion itself-paganism-and later Christian and Is-lamic overburdens.
