Between the Rise and the Fall of the Alternative Music Scene in Bulgaria. From Stroeja to Terminal 1, from Terminal 1 to Stroeja

Summary/Abstract: On 1st September 2014 club Stroeja in Studentski grad closes its doors forever. What follows is a worrisome pause and its resurrection in the top centre of Sofia in two Stroeja branches – the clubs Terminal 1 and Stroeja (centre). In this article as a current researcher of the alternative scene in Bulgaria I am going to analyze the following questions: What does the closing of club Stroeja in Studentski grad mean? Is this a signal for the fall or the rise of the alternative music scene in Bulgaria? Is this recognition or selling out?
